A man has now been arrested at Newbury Park High School in connection to the murder of his teen brother, local authorities report.

A tragic and shocking incident unfolded in Newbury Park on Thursday night when a 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of his teenage brother.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Zuberi Sharp, while the victim has been named as 15-year-old Zayde Keohohou, Sharp’s younger sibling.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reports that the alleged attack took place around 8 p.m. inside a home located in the 400 block of Jeanne Court.

When deputies arrived, they found Keohohou suffering from blunt force trauma to the head.

While the exact weapon used in the attack remains under investigation, officials have suggested it could possibly be an ax.

Tragically, Keohohou succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Following the incident, Sharp was apprehended on the football field of Newbury Park High School, which is situated about half a mile from the scene of the crime.

Remarkably, he was found naked at the time of his arrest.

Witnesses at the school reported that many students were present for after-school activities, but fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident.

A parent attending a dance recital at the school, William Garcia, described the tense atmosphere: “Some of the dancers were in a different room, so they were locked down in their room.

We were locked down in the back, and then when everything was settled, we found out afterward what actually happened.”

As the investigation continues, authorities are seeking assistance from the public.

Detectives have requested anyone with video footage of Sharp fleeing the scene or moments leading up to his arrest to share that information using a provided link.

The motive behind this brutal attack remains unclear, adding to the community’s shock and disbelief.

Family members of Keohohou gathered on Friday evening to express their gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying: “We appreciate the outpouring of love, aloha, support, and prayers from friends and ohanas and this wonderful community.”

In light of this tragedy, a GoFundMe account has been established to assist Zayde’s family during this difficult time.

This incident is particularly poignant given the family’s history.

Zuberi Sharp is the son of Calvin Sharp, who is currently serving a life sentence for an unrelated crime—a horrific murder committed in 2007 when he killed a 6-year-old boy with a meat cleaver in Newbury Park.

During that attack, both the boy’s mother and a neighbor who tried to intervene sustained serious injuries.

Calvin Sharp had pleaded insanity but was ultimately found sane and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, along with two additional life terms.

Compounding the tragedy, family members have clarified that Zuberi and Zayde have different fathers, emphasizing the complexity of their familial relationships.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this devastating event, thoughts and prayers are extended to the family, who are now facing unimaginable grief and loss.

The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover the circumstances that led to this shocking crime.
