A state is now laying off thousands before the holidays according to data from the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.

The state of California continues to be the number 1 state with the most recorded WARN layoffs this year.

And according to fresh WARN data, the state of California is laying off thousands of workers prior to the holidays.

It’s important to note that under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, an employer with more than 100 full-time workers must provide a 60-day notice before laying off 50 or more people at a single site.

This year, there has been approximately 35,347 layoffs recorded in California under the WARN Act, nearly half of the numbers reported in 2023.
